What to Expect: A hike in and above a crack in the ground that in places is 70 feet deep

Distance: 2-mile loop

Elevation Range: 4,400-4,496 feet

Drive 1 mile east and turn north on BLM Road 6109-D. Drive northerly 6.9 miles to Crack in the Ground trailhead. Park.

A short hike takes you to a wide spot of the crack. Walk in the crack south as far as you can go or can stand, then climb out and return along the crack's edge. The deepest part of the crack is north of where you began your crack walk and is best viewed by hiking along either rim.
